This is the official list of species at risk in the Northwest Territories under the Species at Risk (NWT) Act. Listing is for a term of 10 years and may be extended. More information on the legislation and listing process is available here.

Endangered

Consequence of Listing: Previously listed as Special Concern. An NWT management plan was completed in 2018. A recovery strategy is required by August 1, 2027.

Threatened

(Bison bison athabascae)

Special Concern
