In accordance with subsections 60(2) and 60(4) of the Species at Risk (NWT) Act, the Conference of Management Authorities is extending the completion date for the recovery strategy for Peary caribou. For efficiency and to avoid duplication, the Conference of Management Authorities is anticipating adopting the applicable portions of the federal recovery strategy for Peary caribou, once it is completed. An extension to September 30, 2024 is required to accommodate the timelines of the federal process.
This document was originally scheduled for completion on February 27, 2016. This extension is the fourth extension applied to the completion of the recovery strategy, with previous iterations applied to extend completion to February 27, 2018, December 31, 2019 and December 31, 2021.
