The Conference of Management Authorities has released two draft documents today to support the recovery and management of species at risk in the Northwest Territories (NWT). The public is invited to provide input on these draft documents as part of this important process.
- Draft Recovery Strategy for Barren-ground Caribou in the NWT
- Draft Management Plan for Bats in the NWT
Barren-ground caribou and two bat species (little brown myotis and northern myotis) are considered species at risk in the NWT. Under the Species at Risk (NWT) Act, a recovery strategy for barren-ground caribou and a management plan for bats must be in place by July 2020.
Recovery strategies and management plans provide guidance and direction to co-management partners to support the recovery and conservation of species at risk.
